Return of the old school.
The monkey flew out to San Francisco and returned with a new address for Steph, Kim and The Gimp. It was the end for monkey. He had been through every single house without leave and now he would be leaving before the story ended at Red Zero. All summer long the monkey and The Chief waged war with each other over the monkey's noise and other petty issues. They would miss each other. Jeff and Deana had also planned on moving out west and with bridges burning brightly they moved to Los Angeles. They were married a year later in Las Vegas with Stercus acting as Best Dog. As the rooms at Red Zero Year Four filled up with returning roommates like Dennis,Cass, No-Joke G and Zalph, monkey wondered if he was making a mistake. A week before they were supposed to leave Red Zero, the apartment in San Francisco fell through. Suddenly they had nowhere to live since they had given up their rooms at Red Zero. Monkey and Steph grabbed a small room on the first floor, Kim stayed in the attic with Chip and The Gimp tried to live in the basement. The new landlord Francis had arranged for the attic to be zoned as a living space but not the basement. He found The Gimp sleeping on a pile of cardboard boxes and rousted him from his dark hiding place in the basement. Scott P. returned from a summer internship in Japan to find himself living next to the monkey. It was his worst nightmare. During Ground Zero 2 Scott P. had lived in the apartment below the monkey and knew all too well from that experience that the monkey's late night noise habits were not to be endured. Fortunately, there was a new vibe in the house that year. It was a return to the original ideology of Red Zero; friends living together. With the reduced numbers communication improved and a new era began. Still, there was unrest below the surface. The Chief painted his room dark brown with pink trim to wash away any remnants of the Zoe debacle. His room became dark and evil. It was often referred to as "The Anus". The monkey went berserk late one winter night and ripped his radiator out of his floor. (He said he was hot.) Water flowed freely from the ruptured pipes up into the monkey's room and then down into the basement onto the fuse boxes. Francis was called and Red Zero went into crisis mode as electrocution threatened anyone who attempted to shut the water off in the basement. Once the crisis was over it became apparent why the thermostat in the first floor hallway had been savagely mauled and sabotaged so many times. That Halloween Red Zero had it's first party. Ten kegs were purchased and a wall of sheets was erected around the parking lot behind the house. Costumes were made and lights were set up as Red Zero braced itself for it's first public invasion since the small rave parties of the year before. The party was huge. An estimated 900 people came and at $2 a head those who had purchased kegs found themselves with a surplus of money. Police had surrounded the house. No-Joke G aka Nabbee Swift spun a loud set the entire night while the Hamptones played a live show in the basement. An undercover policeman was identified inside the house trying to sell illegal drugs to anyone he could find. No one bought any and as soon as he left shortly after 3:00 am the party was busted. As the year went on tensions mounted within the tightly knit group. Before anything could come to a head things changed. Cass moved to Seattle and Stephanie moved into her room. Kim and Chip moved out of the attic and the Chief moved on up out of the "Anus". Patrick and Stephanie moved in to the Chief's old room and No-Joke took Stephanie's old room. There were new faces moving in; D-Mo, who had always existed on the periphery of previous houses finally took the plunge. D-Mo was jumping from the sinking ship of 411; the former site of Ground Zero 2, just as the situation reached critical mass. Another refugee was Andy; who had lived through the squalor of the Gimp house for an entire year. As the room shuffles subsided, the residents of Year 4 transmogrified into...
